does psoriasis cause arthritis?

Sometimes: Psoriasis is an immunological condition that affects the skin and joints.  However, not everyone have manifestations of both, and many have only skin or only joint involvement.  We are learning that psoriasis also affects the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk for heart disease.

Enbrel, (etanercept) methotrexate: Either Methotrexate , Enbrel (etanercept) , Humira stelar a and remocaide can work on psoriasis and possible psoriaitc arthritis.

No and maybe: In fact uv light can be an effective treatment for psoriasis and can reduce flares. However, uv light also increases the risk of skin cancer, so exposure must be limited and careful. Psoriasis patients can develop psoriatic arthritis; the risk is particularly increased if there is extensive skin involvement, or involvement of the scalp or nails.

Likely: It is common for psoriasis affects the nails in this way.  Many psoriasis patients are also bothered by arthritis, but not all.

Transimitting: Since the cells from the bone marrow will alter the recipient's immune system, receiving bone marrow cells from donors will an immune disorder will likely cause similar problem in the recipients. It is difficult enough to keep the host from rejecting the graft (bone marrow) and more perilous still if one has to suppress the autoimmune conditions.

Psoriasis : Psoriasis is acompanied in a number of patient by arthritis, and is a inflammatory condition of the joints that could be of five varieties. Fibromyalgia on the other hand is a rheumatic condition or disease that is caracterized by magnification of pain . Fibromyalgia is not inflamation of the joints but rather a magnification of the sensation or of pain that might occur in muscle , sh\kin or joints. The sensation of heat , cold , tingling , rare feeling or raretactile sensations , numbness are all variation of sensations that are altered in fibromyalgia , and ussually magnified. So the heat sensation , may be a manifestation of fibromyalgia.

my nails are discoloured and pitting(not all nails) no history of skin psoriasis or psoriasis arthritis, no pain in joints/stiffness. i cut them short and they hurt now. cant see any redness atm. vit b12/calcium tests are normal. any possible cause?

: The nails can indicate a number of problems but must see and talk to you to be able to help. In meantime to to uptodate.com and read more. Take some pictures. Google pitted nails, view images and see if you can match up. Show/Discuss with your Drs.

have graves, psoriasis, psor arthritis..have petachiae on legs and arms..dr did biopsy..concerned may be vasculitis..what do u think?..no results yet..on lamictal for awhile..can lamictal be the cause?
