Yes: Anorectal trauma can cause acute rectal injury but this should heal. Chronic proctitis is not caused ny trauma unless the trauma is recurrent or persistent. Anal intercourse is not generally traumatic.

Yes: Deep penetration with a hard object could certainly cause rectal injury and if recurrent could lead to some chronic inflammation.

Accepted Answer

Probably not, but...: ... you  probably shouldn't be having anal sex all (and perhaps not vaginal sex), at least not with new partners, until this problem is gone. If you  have a regular partner who is aware of the risk, that should be OK, but you must not put new or unknowing partners at risk. Condoms probably would only partly reduce the risk. But probably no risk for you. See an infectious diseases specialist.

Colonoscopy: Recurrent anal bleeding requires further evaluation. She needs to see a proctologist  or a GI doctor.  It could be a minor problem like hemorrhoids or something serious like inflammatory bowel disease, please get her evaluated and consider colonoscopy.

Skin lesion: From what you described the tiny amount of blood  was probably from a crack in the skin due to dry skin. If it recurs more than a couple of times, it would be prudent to see a doctor for an evaluation.

Yeast infection.: You may be experiencing an overgrowth of yeast after taking antibiotics. The balance which normally exists in the anal area can be thrown off by antiobiotic therapy. Try using over the counter monistat, but use twice a daily to the area for one week. If no resolution, see your doctor.

dear doctors - can you get anal/rectal symptoms of mgen (or other sti) without anal sex? in other words, can you get proctitis even though the entry point was the penis? my healthcare provider says not, but it isnt clear on the web. thanks?

: Your HCP is correct. Males cannot get anal or rectal STI (including M genitalium) or STI symptoms except by receptive anal sex. It can happen in women because the anus is easily contaminated with vaginal fluid, but not in men without anal sexual exposure. Nothing that causes rectal infection, with or without proctitis, can travel from the penis to the rectum.

Kegel Exercises: In 2016 a study was published regarding anal sex in men/women and found a higher risk of fecal incontinence although the absolute risk in men was 6% but the relative risk was 119%. The study only included 40 men who practiced anal sex. Kegel exercises that women do to strengthen the pelvic floor may have some impact on the anal sphincter to strengthen it. That's not been studied though.

i had a colonoscopy  my results were: unspecified infectious proctitis soon after i got bacne, went from nothing to full back of acne, what's going on?

Need attention: I do not see a correlation between colonoscopy and "acne on the back" which might be folliculitis or shingles?
