Use it judiciously: Orajel contains Benzocaine in strengths of 10% to 20% which help relieve pain for mouth sores. This can be used to alleviate the pain for a few days, but if the symptoms do not get better, a dentist needs to be consulted. Oragel should not be used in kids less than 2 years.
Oragel sore mouth rinse can be used by swishing to debride and clean the mouth.

2 separate problems: 1. A sinus infection or inflammation can cause a toothache, especially in the upper molars. These problems should be managed by your PCP or ENT. 2. Mouth sores (aphthous ulcers) are painful sores inside the mouth. The sore may be painful for three or four days, but complete healing usually takes ten to fifteen days. Canker sores may recur many times each year. No cure is available.

i used max strenth oragel last night for a toothache and my lower right side of my lip and chin are still numb .will this go awa i've never had this problem with orajel im not swollen .i am taking amoxicillan for the infection i might have and ibuprofen

The : The numbness you are experiencing may not be coming from the orajel.

Has a dentist seen you for this problem, or are you self medicating?

If you are treating yourself, get to a dentist to be treated. Your infection is putting extreme pressure on the nerve in the bone and causing your "numbness". The reason you are not swollen is because the infection is in the bone.

If you are being treated by a dentist for the infection, call their office for guidance as to how you should proceed.

Allowing this to continue can result in possible nerve damage from the infection. Please do not wait.

Acyclovir: If you get aphthous ulcers (cold or canker sores) frequently then the prescription medicine Acyclovir could help. But you usually have to get it going before you see a sore....Like at the first inkling.

Suspicion for COVID 19 is higher if you have at least 2 of these symptoms:  temp of at least 99.6 F (37.5 C), Cough, Shortness of breath, Chills, Shivering, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat or new loss of taste or smell.

Lupus: Lupus is a chronic autoimmune systemic disorder and can have quiet periods with acute intermittent flares. Mouth sores with severe body aches necessitates reevaluation for acute flare . Though mouth sores and severe body aches could be from other sources, evaluation for lupus flare could help control inflammation with  early intervention to minimize symptoms improve healing if it is lupus induced.
