Yes: Sle is an autoimmune disorder that can cause mixed neuropathies in a minority of affected patients.  Antidepressant and anti-seizure medications are usually the mainstay of treatment.

No: Similar symptoms but the trigeminal nerve is usually irritated by a different mechanism in trigeminal neuralgia. Most of the time it is irritated by a vascular loop. Often it will respond to medication like Carbamazepine or related anticonvulsants. There is a surgical treatment ( vascular decompression ) that is sometimes used when medication fails. TMJ is more akin to arthritis of the TM joint.

Sure: Trigeminal neuralgia is caused by vascular compression of the fifth cranial nerve as it exits the brainstem.  It may be episodic and is initially treated with certain anti-convulsant medications.  If the pain persists or frequently returns, it can be treated with surgery ( micro vascular decompression ) or radiosurgery.  There are several other treatment options if the pain persists or returns.

Yes: A toothache can mimic the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, but depending on where the infection is located and how much it has spread, it could cause an inflammatory reaction around branches of the trigeminal nerve and cause trigeminal neuralgia. I wouldn't say that it's a typical cause for trigeminal neuralgia though.

Treatment: Trigeminal Neuralgia is extremely rare in your age group; consult a neurologist or an Orofacial Pain Dentist ASAP.  Severe facial pain could be related to an underlying medical condition.

With regards to exhaustion and nausea from the severity of the pain, the best way is to manage the pain.  Anti-convulsants drugs are most commonly used for the management of Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Yes!: Especially in someone over the age of 50. If you are having sudden unprovoked severe stabbing pain, see a physician for treatment.
