See below: The first step in treating all degrees of lead poisoning is to remove the source of the contamination. Than check your serum lead level in your doctor's office. If the level is too high (&gt;45 mcg/dl), you will get a treatment with a chelation therapy (medication that binds with the lead so that it's excreted in your urine),  such as edta.

When appropriate: Laws may mandate screening of young people for lead poisoning. Testing for mercury happens when there's an exposure. There is a great deal of lead in the environment. However, the "pop" / "scare" stuff on the internet is designed to frighten people over mercury poisoning instead, which (as the real thing) is very uncommon. Talk with your physician if you or Junior has been exposed.

: No. The lead must be in a form that is "bioavailable" to enter the bloodstream. Fumes from lead smelters that are inhaled or deposited on clothing to leach out later. Lead in paint chips that are ingested, lead in fumes from the old leaded gasoline are examples of bioavailable lead. This event would just be a wound that could be flushed out and eventually heal.
