No: I never advise wearing contacts during any ocular infection, be it viral (EKC), bacterial, fungal, protozoan. However, if you have fully recovered based on examination findings and the advice of your eye MD, you're likely able to return back to contacts.

Accepted Answer

Depends: Most contacts are designed by worn during the day only.  A few are designed to be worn for longer periods.  Discuss this issue with your ophthalmologist.

No: Many people use contact lenses for many, many years.  (not the same pair, however).

Accepted Answer

Usually: Most soft lenses can be worn for 13 hours and some for longer.  Hard lenses are less tolerable.  If the eye gets painful, or red, take out the lens and if it lasts this way more than 24 hours , see your ophthalmologist.

Accepted Answer

Yes: The maturity of the child and willingness of the parents to help are the factors that determine the age a child can start to  wear contacts.  I have fit many 12 year old's in contacts.  I let the parents decide if the child can handle it.

Accepted Answer

Fit  or astigmatism: I assume you vision is clear with glasses.  If so this is due to a incorrect fit or residual astigmatism.  You may need a toric contact lens that corrects astigmatism.

Accepted Answer

Usually: It is possible to wear contatcs for sometic purposes, such as to change your eye color. It is important to realize that these are medical devices. Do not share contacts with others, as tears can be a source of infectious diseases. Also, smoking and wearing contact lenses over night increases the risk of infections and corneal ulcers.

is it normal for my vision to be blurry when i wear contacts?

Accepted Answer

No: Contact lenses are one method to correct the refractive error in your visual system (eyes) so that you can see more clearly.  If your best corrected vision becomes more blurry with contacts then there is an issue.  This is usually due to the wrong prescription, poor fit of the contacts, dry eyes, or intolerance to contacts.  The best course of action is to have your eyes examined and vision tested.

i want to know why you can't wear contacts for longer than intended?

Accepted Answer

It's risky: Each contact lens has been evaluated and tested for a certain period of usage.  Going beyond this risks eye infection, immune recognition of tear proteins, and having the contact fall apart in your eye.  Why risk your eyes?
