Herbal supplements: There is no literature suggesting that you can not take the gardenia cambodia with synthroid.  However, some contra-indicated medications are diabetes medications, iron, potassium, calcium, serotonin, singulair, (montelukast) statins and warfarin.  Given your history of obesity, i would be very cautious before taking an herbal supplement and recommend speaking with your private physician first.  Hope this helps.

Garcinia Cambogia: It is probably safe to take the recommended amounts of Garcinia while taking synthroid (thyroxine).  However, at your age for you to take Synthroid (thyroxine) tells me that you will need further work up for Hashimoto's thyroiditis.  Please have this tested.

NO, don't use: Garcinia cambogia is in most weight loss supplements, and can cause liver failure.It was also used in Hydroxycut which was taken off the market as people died from using it.  I see a handful of patients per month with abnormal liver tests after using this medicine. I would NOT recommend it. There is no "magic pill" for weight loss. Diet and exercise remain the #1 way to lose weight and keep it off

Unknown: As is true with most supplements, there are no good studies that these supplements do anything beneficial for you.  They are not regulated by the fda, instead treated as "food supplements". Most of these are thought not to be harmful, but there are no studies to support this.  You should not take any supplement at the same time as the levothyroxine, or else absorption of the med could be affected.
