been sick for about 4 days. went to the urgent care in my area and no signs of flu. had a 102.9 fever for 2 nights in a row and a constant 100+. i have been taking tylenol for the past few days and using a dayquil cough syrup?

Cough?: If you have a cough and continued fever, pneumonia is one possible cause. 
You should see a physician and in the meantime, drink fluids and rest. Nasal saline rinses are effective in reducing post nasal drip.

started fridat with sore throat and no voice now coughing every minute and mucus. cough syrup/dayquil/benadryl isn't helping. why?  what to do?

Sore throat: Probably a virus  a common cold.  Drink fluids and rest. Yellow or greenish drainage with a fever, think bacterial infection that needs an antibiotic. See your internist or family doctor if persistent  over the next week. Hang in there.

if i am taking a mucinexdm pill can i also take an over-the-counter cough syrup? just want to make sure they r safe together

Accepted Answer

Perhaps: The cough suppressant in Mucinex (guaifenesin) dm is dextromethorfan.  It is ralatively mild cough suppressant and ofter combined with an anti-histamine.  I'm not sure what other cough medicine you want to use.  Codeine often works better and is available by prescription.  If the cough is persistant you probably should see your physician.

PRN: Your cough syrup is to treat symptoms only. It is not curing or treating the cough.  It is to be taken only when needed. It is not designed to be taken on any type of regular schedule.

i took 2 benzonatate capsules at 8am for my cough. it's now 8pm. is it okay for me to take dayquil? i'd prefer to take it.

Yes: There is no problem with the combination. Whether they work or  not is another issue.

Yes, kinda sorta...: Check out drug-drug interaction checkers at www.Online.Epocrates.Com and www.Drugs.Com, specifically http://www.Drugs.Com/interactions-check.Php?Drug_list=719-8048, 1200-719. Then look for generic equivalents or read ingredient labels. Mucinex (guaifenesin) is a brand of Guaifenesin while Guaifenesin ac is Guaifenesin plus codeine. So yes, your combo is already sold as such. Just don't take too much together.

i took delsym at 7am today. then i took dayquil at 7 pm. can i take dayquil again at 3 am or is that too much of the cough suppressant?

: No, not too much at all, you can take it again.

is it a bad idea to take cough syrup and tylenol (acetaminophen) cold together?

Accepted Answer

Cough syrup: What you have to look at is the toatl amount of Acetaminophen you will be taking in a day. Do not exceed 2-2.5gm per day. Also check how much alcohol is in both of them as well.

i took dayquil  3 hours ago for sinus congestion and cough, it has not helped. when is it safe to take a 12 hour claritin (loratadine) d ?

Four Hours: I would say it is safe to take it after 4 hours of the Dayquil. I hope you are feeling better.
