hi, i have had a lap coly after a series of gallstone 'attacks' and biliary colic. my surgery was in march yet most nights i wake with similar pain?

Many possibilities: Have you talked to your surgeon about this yet?  There are several things that can be done to evaluate this further.  Once a potential cause is found, then a treatment can be recommended.

Surgery: With upcoming surgery I recommend avoiding medication like Advil which can potentiate bleeding. Take acetomeniphen, but don't exceed the recommended doses and don't mix with alcohol intake. If your discomfort worsens, notify your surgeon for instructions.

Nope: You have cholecystitis and need to get that gb out.   Take pain meds for now....Go see your doctor and let him know.  You wont get relief until it is out.

Avoiding surgery: Sooner or later your gallstones will create a problem, which may be an emergency, It is best to consult your surgeon and have the gallbladder removed before it creates a big problem

The danger is tiny: The risk of induced cancer from a HIDA scan and dozens of mammogram images is incredibly small. In fact, some would claim the risk could barely be calculated reliably. See: http://www.riainvision.com/exams/hida_scan.aspx Note, we all get x ray radiation naturally every day.
 There is real risk with repeated studies such as CT scans. For instance, one CT study of the chest equals 100 chest x rays.

See a doctor: Have your elevated cholesterol treated medically. Kidney stones are not related to cholesterol. Liver calcification is not related to cholesterol  ; is observed unless it is associated with a mass lesion. Gallstones may be related to your cholesterol but they will not go away. Gallstones are observed unless they are causing abdominal pressure discomfort ; nausea after eating - then surgery.
