do i need to get flu shots for my children again this year? last year i got the flu shot for my 3 children. they did not ever get the flu. do i have to get them the shot again this year?

Sounds : Sounds like the flu shot worked for you children.  Flu shots are recommended each year, unless there are medical contraindications, because the strain of viruses that cause the flu differ each year.  Based on previous years outbreaks, an analysis is done to identify potential virus threats for the coming year so that the drug companies can manufacture a vaccine specific to the threat.

Uncommon: Since flu vaccines (aside from the nasal spray form) consist of  killed virus , they shouldn't make you ill. There are rare cases of neurologic complication from flu vaccine reported.  There is an intradermal form of flu vaccine which you may be able to tolerate. However if you still get sick from it regardless of the mechanism, discuss with your doctor re. pros and cons in skipping it.

Common cold: Good Morning, I dont believe there is any vitamin out there that will prevent sickness from the common cold or flu. Best prevention is to continue to get vaccinate yearly, practice good hand hygiene, get plenty of sleep (7-8 hours per night) and eat a healthy well balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Taking a multi vitamin daily is fine, but it is unlikely to prevent any cold.

i take 1000mg vit. c every 12 hrs (twice a day) all winter & haven't gotten sick once. didn't get flu shot. does vit c really help immune  system?

Strongly recommend: Annual influenza vaccine. I can't tell you how effective it is. Even if you do catch the flu (and have been vaccinated) it is likely to be less aggressive.

As soon as available: The seasonal flu vaccine will be effective within 2 weeks of administration & last all season regardless of when obtained.My office crew & i got ours in early august.

Yes,but: It takes two to three weeks to develop antibodies that would protect you from the strains in the vaccine. If you got the flu anyway from this exposure, you would be protected from other flu strains circulating the country.The best time to get the vaccine is in september, long before the season starts. We got our vaccine in in late august & started giving it immediately.

I do have both my: parents get the flu shot because the risks involved of getting the actual flu at your age are much more serious than the vaccine itself. SO I would recommend you get it. Hope that helps

i am on 9 mg of predezone.  i have to increase to 15 mg. dr  says ok to get flu shot. is it better to get it before i increase to 15 mg?

Hi dose flu vaccine: For someone 65 and older there is a 'high dose' flu vaccine that is made up of 4x the amount of antigen in a regular flu shot. You have good insight- the more steroids you're on, the weaker your immune system becomes (relatively speaking). So yes, I would prefer you to get the flu shot sooner rather than later, and please ask about the HI dose shot -if you were my patient, that's what I would give

Does not cause virus: The flu vaccine is not a live vaccine so it does not cause any virus, including coronavirus. By getting a flu vaccine, you are decreasing your risk of getting sick with influenza. If everyone does this, there will be more space in the healthcare system to diagnose and treat those with Covid-19. Also, symptoms you develop are less likely to be from the flu if you get the flu vaccine.
