No one knows: First of all, no one knows for sure if HCG really helps with weight loss. Those following the "hcg diet" only eat 500 calories a day & you will lose weight on that diet whether you take HCG or not. Many who advise that diet say the shots work best. As for the liquids, i know of no objective research showing one brand is better than another so I have no way of giving a good answer to your question.

HCG: HCG is human Chorionic Gonadotropin which is secreted as the pregnancy hormone during pregnancy. How that causes "weight loss" instead of its natural state of "weight gain", I could not tell you.

None really: Hcg is not known for its cosmetic results for the face. You don't want to lose the structural fat that supports the features of the face, by extreme weight loss. It can't be replaced, except by fillers temporarily. Make sure you have this discussion with your doctor before using it, so you don't replace one problem for another. Bio identical hormones should also be discussed if you're a candidate.

No.: The HCG diet has never actually been proven to be beneficial (anyone will lose weight on 800 cal diet!) and as an endocrinologist I do not believe in it even if it helps weight loss. It is very similar to a hormone called LH and causes changes in progesterone and estrogen. Bleeding after can happen if there was a thickened endometrial lining. Get pregnancy test if possible and see your Gyn.

Actually, no.: This probably would not work to lose weight.  It goes up in the beginning of pregnancy, peaks and falls slightly by term.  When it goes up, the mother increases in weight and the baby also grows, so it is unlikely that this would result in or enhance weight loss.  As of december 6, 2011, the fda has prohibited the sale of "homeopathic" and otc HCG diet products and declared them illegal.

Bad Plan: The HCG diet is a strict one, hard to follow, and short-term -- all very unrealistic goals for long-term weight loss maintenance. Nobody can survive in a healthy way on 500 calories a day (which is what the diet calls for). The idea of taking breaks from the HCG "mobilizing the energy stored in your own body fat" translates into temporary weight loss that comes back. Instead, plan to lose slowly.
