No: No, this is fairly routine testing for anyone with elevated liver labs or pain in this area.  Your doctor is probably looking for signs of gallbladder problems like stones.  The test itself is fast, mostly painless, and will give you a great deal of information.

You can ask but: what test is to be done is based on medical decision , after clinical  examination physician will decide which test to be done first. Less expensive least invasive test will be done  first Why should an insurance pay an expensive test If you have to pay from your pocket which test you choose?

As you grow older you may come to learn how to manage these 'bumps' in life without spending much time worrying. Blocked sweat gland: The most common reason is a blocked sweat gland. They can become painful but can usually be easily treated. The ultrasound is to see if the area has a collection of fluid that can be drained. A good idea. If so, draining is a good idea. If no fluid, then usually start antibiotic to treat probable infection in the blocked duct. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Transvaginal US: You will be lying on your back on the ultrasound table, probably knees up.  The cylindrical probe will be covered with a "condom" and then ultrasound gel, which also serves as lubricant.  The tech will gently insert the probe into the vagina.  Images will be generated by the probe.  The tech will gently move/tilt the probe to visualize the necessary areas.

Calm Down!: The HCG level you give could be seen in a 6 wk pregnancy. Would be hard to see with abdominal sono. Molar pregnancies tend to have higher HCG values. Get the vaginal sono and find out for sure. If there was a problem then it is best to get it over with earlier than later. Hope things work out for you!

Sonogram: The question is very broad.  Your doctor might suspect an abnormality of a certain organ, might have a very low suspicion but just wants to make sure, or wants to document certain normal structures for some purpose.  Best course is to ask your doctor why he/she ordered the ultrasound.

Maybe: This may be your liver asking for more exercise. You'll want to have some labs to rule out hepatitis B, hepatitis C, medication effects, hemochromatosis, WIlson's and autoimmunity.
