No: Usually herpes 1 doesn't reemerge as herpes 2 unless you get infected with type ii virus.

Herpes and syphilis: Sexually transmitted diseases are no fun.  Therefore docs always recc prevention. Talk to your partner too- it can go along way. Herpes is usually multiple blisters and v painful. Syphilis on the other hand can come up as one sore only that ulcerates and may not be painful. There are other STDs but they are less common. I think you should see a doc and get this treated.

See below: Classically, herpes simplex type 2 (hsv-2) is genital herpes and hsv-1 is oral herpes (cold sores).  However, cold sores can also be hsv-2.  So, if someone has hsv-2, then if they have a genital or oral lesion, you can contract it from them through sex or even kissing or sharing a glass if their cold sore is active and present.

Can be one or many: Herpes can show up as a single blister or multiple blisters.  It just depends on the extent of the disease and the individual.  Usually the sore is painful, although sometimes it can just be itchy.  If it is painless, however, it could be other possibilities like syphilis.  In addition, herpes sores characteristically tend to recur in the same location.

You did or you didn': The only way to know for sure is to get a blood test in a few weeks for titers (that is medical speak for levels of antibodies in your blood) against Herpes Simplex Virus Type I and HSV II.  Get IgM as well as IgG. The IgM are the early antibodies which only stay around for 3 months or so. The IgG are the long lasting antibodies which can last for years. Stress: This could be from the friction causing herpes flares. You can have a blood test or a scraping from the lesions to see if type 1 or 2 simplex. May take an antiviral before and after to help prevent the lesions if this an activity that you and your husband enjoy.

Misinformed?: 75% of americans have heroes simplex or hsv type one. Contagiousness through viral shedding has no correlation between having a sore or not.  You may be just as contagious without  a sore. Or you may not be contagious at all when you have a sore.

Not Herpes: Herpes generally causes red lesions, that are quite painful initially & generally last for 10-14 days.  Also they generally do not show up right away but take a few days after exposure to get sore. It could be another std but most likely it was just a scrape of the skin from the teeth. I see you say no unprotected sex - did you use a condom for oral? If not, that is unprotected sex!

: No risk at all. You cannot catch herpes except by someone's herpes sore coming in direct contact with your genital area, mouth, etc. The virus is never transmitted by indirect exposure or by contact with contaminated surfaces, hands, fingers, etc. Don't worry about this.
