Not really: There are several really good chemical "cures" for head lice. Many are readily available OTC.  There is a normal degree of hair loss as one gets older.  You can speak to a dermatologist about your degree of hair loss if it really disturbs you enough.

can rid lice treatment cause perminate hair thinning/ hair loss? my three year old and i have experianced difuse hair loss shortly after using rid. i left my treatment on longer then 10 minutes and my head was tingly for 3 weeks.

Hair loss: Your dermatologist can evaluate and analyze your hair loss and can determine whether it is only temporary or permanent.

can lice shampoo if left on to long cause perminate hair thinning and hair loss? on a 26 year old and a 3 year old little girl? my whole head of hair is damaged after using lice treatment and straightening my hair the next day.

THINK: Hair straightening is notorious for damaging hair. The hair becomes brittle and breaks off. It will still grow back. If you must use a "relaxer" be very careful.

Dermatitis : Seborrhic dermatitis , dandruff or dry skin can cause itchy scalp. You should be seen by dermatologist.

Irritation?: There coukd e sensitive nerves which cause disconfort. After evaluation if the skin looks normal and there are no underlying medical problems such as diabetes or thyroid issues, intralesional steroids Lidocaine may give you relief.

Other cause: It is unlikely that your persistent hair loss is due to the treatment you used over a year ago.  There are many causes of hair loss which can be evaluated and possibly treated by your physician.

Fungal infection: Be checked for a fungal infection. Sometimes a special light will show it but often you need cultures. All the best.

: Be aware that hair straightening with heat application does damage hair follicles and does cause split ends,breakage and definitely can cause hair loss. A skilled beautician can advise you about the current status of your hair and advise you about best hair care techniques.

Fungal Infections: One of the most common causes for scalp sores are ring worm on scalp otherwise called Tinea capitus. Bacterial infections can also cause sores on the scalp

Accepted Answer

No: To this point the head lice do not transmit any disease. The scratching involved may allow infection by skin germs.
