Yes: You can only get pregnant when you are ovulating, which is normally in the middle of your cycle (usually day 14 of a 28 day cycle). However, some people ovulate at different times. Men's sperm can remain active for up to 2-3 days. With so many variations and irregularities, it is safe to assume that you could get pregnant anytime you have unprotected intercourse.

Very unlikely: Women ovulating couple day after ovulation is rare, it happens little short of the middle of her cycle and key to pregnancy is ovulation.

my partner and i have been trying to get pregnant. all of a sudden my last two cycles have been extremely longer than normal. last one 50 and current one day 48, but still no period. my normal is about 32-34. it did not happen gradually. is this ok?

Cycle longer: It's likely that you have not ovulated during these last 2 menstrual cycles prolonging estrogen effects and preventing release of progesterone which accounts for lack of usual uterine bleeding. Your gynecologist can advise you best, however.

Please clarify: Your last period was recent. It would be both physically impossible to be pregnant this soon after a period. I am not sure what you are asking, if your next period does not arrive then it would be time to test. But that is still about two weeks away i would imagine.

: That is not typical of being pregnant so likely side effects of plan b causing an early period.

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Could be: An abnormal menstruation can occur with pregnancy.  A pregnancy test is need to determine this.  It could also just be a period variation that all women experience on occasion.

Yes you can.: Valium does not interfere with fertility.  If you have had unprotected sex you should check a pregnancy test after the missed period..
