whenever i start exercising again, i start spotting. am on bc for anemia. had breakthrough bleeding and some cramping for over a month when i started an exercise-heavy job, even on bc. what does exercise affect that causes this? do i need stronger bc

Low estrogen?: If you are slim and in excellent physical condition, you may be low on estrogen. If so, a higher dose oral contraceptive might be a consideration. Otherwise, this definitely needs further evaluation; any and all abnormal or unexplained vaginal bleeding needs professional care. Don't expect conclusive answers on a forum like this. Contact the doctor where this problem has been managed up til now.

Keep taking the pill: No dear. Keep taking the pill. Different antibiotics interact with the pill differently. Keep taking the pill and use a back up birth control method to prevent pregnancy.

on 5th pill in 2 years (changed bc of bleeding). good on one pill for about a year, random breakthrough bleeding in 2nd week. can soy cause this?

Potentially so: Soy contains phytoestrogens that in large doses I could imagine interfere with the metabolism of birth control pills. Stop consuming soy for several month and see if that makes a difference.

I am very skeptical: that breakthrough is caused by antibiotics. Let's say that would be REALLY low on the list. There are 100  better reasons for breakthrough bleeding, but by definition because it's "breakthrough" there's no rule for how long it last. If it persists into your next menstrual cycle check with your doctor; if not, can likely forget it. Good wishes.

Sometimes, yes: It depends on the cause of breakthrough bleeding.  You should probably see a gynecologist and get some testing of hormones.  First, get a pregnancy test though.  Good luck!

Bleeding on pill: If you are bleeding while taking the pill  with active ingredients,it is called"breakthrough bleeding".if the pills have 28 pills the last 4to7pills,depending on brand will have a different colour and are the "sugar" pills

It's possible: You could be having an allergic reaction which among other problems such as seizures; severe or persistent diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting;  can cause unusual bleeding. I suggest you do not take any more of the drug until you speak to the prescribing physician. Contact the prescribing physician immediately and go to an emergency room if you are in distress in the meantime.

Not likely: this small variation in time should not be the cause of break through bleeding (BTB).

No Such Thing: There is no guarantee that a birth control pill will not give rise to breakthrough bleeding. It is your hormone and body profile and metabolism and the interaction with the pill that are variables. Most birth control pills are available world wide. Levora (ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) and Levlen is available in India and will work well to delay your period. Please discuss with your doctor who knows you well.

Breakthrough bleed: Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding at the wrong time)  is very common on birth control. It happens in about 1/3 of users. Its no big deal and usually self corrects over time.  If you are not satisfied or it continues to happen  then consider using a different birth control method. It is a common side effect and does not mean something is wrong or that the pill is not working.
