Perceptive question: Usually, the Vit B12 injections are the better treatment for a deficiency, especially if taking a proton pump inhibitor such as Prevacid.

Several causes: Cancer, stercoral ulcer (hard stool which erodes through the bowel, obstruction (a blocked colon will usually perforate at the right side [cecum], )trauma, ulcerative colitis, and toxic megacolon associated with clostridia difficile infection, are all possible causes of colon perforation.

I am not aware: of any medical evidence that relates colon cleanse to acute diverticulitis.  There is evidence that chronic laxative use can lead to colon motility problems, however.

can it be dangerous if your ferittin is only 4 ml at age 19 and have had constant anemia for over a year? what could be causeing it all to be low?

Low iron: For some reason your iron stores are low - ferritin is the "iron warehouse" of the body. Either u are losing iron (heavy periods?) or not getting enough in your diet. Some vegetarians for example don't eat enough foods with iron in them. Certainly u need this problem to be solved because iron is essential for blood cell production and anemia is no fun. Hopefully your primary doc can figure it out.

It's possible: When a man over age 50 develops iron-deficiency anemia, doctors are trained to think about colon cancer, which can cause silent blood loss.  But if your anemia went away with a change in your diet, it was probably due to your diet!  lack of folate (folic acid) from leafy green vegetables, or lack of vit b12, can also cause anemia. Follow-up with your doc to make sure your anemia has resolved.

Blood loss: Blood loss from the gastro intestinal tract is the most common cause. This could be due to gastritis, ulcer, hemorrhoids, diverticuli, or tumor. Nutritional deficiencies can lead to anemia as well. Cancer of the blood is another concern. Seek medical attention promptly.

Rare, but possible.: Following partial colectomy for diverticular disease, there is a 10% chance of having another episode of diverticulitis.  However, this usually occurs on the left side of the abdomen.

Unknown : Nobody knows exactly how long before a diverticulum becomes blocked until infection sets in. It's also unclear exactly get the relationship between diet (e.g. Seeds) and diverticulitis is. If your diet makes it worse, alter it accordingly.

Yes: Although I can not say I have a specific study saying it does, I would agree that a process such as c diff could inflame your diverticulosis into diverticulits.

If that: Is the true correlation i would be concerned that you are doing some form of extreme dieting that is leading to a nutrient deficiency.
