VERY: It causes a change in brain chemistry known as "excitotoxicity". Too difficult to explain but suffice it to note the part of the word "toxic".

Yes : Soda contains corrosive acids such as citric, malic, tartaric carbonic or phosphoric which, can remove calcium from tooth enamel. Without protection from the dental enamel, the tissue underneath is susceptible to cavities, root canals & even extractions. Sugar causes cavities, consider rinsing your mouth after drinking soda. Best to avoid diet soda due to other health issues. Water is best for you.

Diet soda: 16 oz. twice a week is OK.

Personally I prefer Lipton Diet - no calories, no fizz, and I obviously enjoy it.
At my local store I buy a "case" of 12 bottles, each 1 pint, and cost about $7.

Multiple reasons. : A harvard study showed that diet sodas caused decline in kidney function due to the diet sweeteners. They can rot teeth and destroy teeth enamel due to being acidic in nature. Diet sodas also contain chemical substances which can cause cell damage. Although diet sodas contain low calories they still increase the size of peoples waistlines and contribute to metabolic syndrome.

No: No food per se can cause diabetes but if the food cause you to gain a lot of weight, then your risk of developing diabetes increase.

Sweeteners: Artificial sweetners (stevia included), trick several neuro hormones by tasting very sweet.  One of these is leptin, and there are several others.  Some antaogize Insulin sensitivity, and others simply cause overproduction.  Studies have shown a link, but they are not definite because overweight people are prone to metabolic syndrome.  That having been said, i think everything is made too sweet!

Yes they do: A perdue university study found that diet sodas may be linked to many health problems from obesity to diabetes to heart disease.One large study found that people who drank artificial sweetened soda were more likely to gain weight and develop metabolic syndrome, diabetes and heart disease.This include drinks containing aspartame, sucralose, and sacharin.

Mostly NO: I see many people who take in over 500 calories a day in just soda. NOT taking that much in helps.
On the other hand, The New York Times science analysis reviewed diet soda components in the medical literature and found that the expectation of calories when you drink makes you hungry if you don't get any sugar. You'd still have to eat to gain weight though
