Menstrual Cycle: Women's menstrual cycles can vary in length for a variety of reasons. Small changes in your cycle does not necessarily mean that something is wrong.  Stress, weight changes, breastfeeding, medications and menopause can all contribute to changing cycle lengths. 

Lab tests done by your physician can tell you if you have an STD. Using a condom during sex can reduce your chances of getting an STD.

Probably not: At present Metronidazole has not been asociated with congenital anomalies.

Period timing.: Normally antibiotics don't cause your period to be early. But if your body is stressed enough by an illness it could impact when you have your period.

It  shouldn't: Antibiotics should not interact with your period one way or the other.  One concern with mixing antibiotics and birth control pills is that the antibiotics can change one's gut flora (bacteria) enough to effect the way the pill is absorbed and that can affect the period.  The short answer is still, no.  If your period remains delayed it would be worth a visit to the doctor

had my first depo injection and was prescribed an antibiotic at the same time. my period was 2 weeks ago. 
how long is a back up method needed?

: If your had your Depo injection on day 1-7 of your menstrual period, you do not need a backup method.  Any other time, we recommend a backup method for 7 days.  Though condoms are recommended 100% of the time for STD prevention.

Vaginal odor: a ‘fishy’ smell. is often associated with bacterial or yeast infections and occur alongside vaginal itchiness, burning, irritation, and a change in your normal monthly menstrual discharge.The fishy smell is in actuality due to an imbalance in the vaginal pH. as healthy lactic acid bacteria is reduced in the vaginal environment. Can try OTC antifungal, white vinegar helps with odor. See your GYN.

Yes: While periods do vary from cycle to cycle, any that are different should get a preg test.  Some antibiotics can interfere with contraceptives, so adding another method--like condoms would be wise.

when a prescription says take two/three/four times a day does that  mean between morning and evening or over a 24 hour period? like for an antibiotic.

Dosing per day: Well in a perfect world we could take the medication on an exact basis -for example 3 times a day would be every 8 hrs in a 24 hr period. This is because medications have a "half-life" in the body which means over time the body will get rid of it, so u have to take it again. Problem is, the daily routine can get in the way-- consider sleeping for example and how much time that eats up. Try ur best
