Yes: Spontaneous spleenic rupture can be caused by  infectious mononucleosis,  blood (hematological) diseases such as hemolytic anemia and certain types of lymphoma,  malaria, pancreatitis.

Splenic rupture: Splenic rupture usually occurs after blunt trauma. This includes a blow to the left lower rib cage, or a sharp stopping such as a car accident or a fall from a height.

Good: Today, the survival rate is very good. In fact, most splenic trauma is managed non-operatively. It just depends on how bad the rupture is, other injuries, and if there appears to be active bleeding on ct.

I'm sorry to hear it: The spleen is part of the immune system of the body. Guillian-barre synd (gbs) is a form of auto-immune disease.  The body attacks itself. Cause is unknown, but, it often happens after a seemingly minor infection. It would make the spleen inflamed and very fragile. The slightest bump or even eating a hearty meal could crack it. (its attached to the stomach). If cracked, it bleeds fast.

YES: you could be mistaken...  and a ruptured spleen would be likely bleeding and you would be so sick you could be in an emergency situation

Yes: Your surgeon should answer your questions. Realize that they will have a very busy emergency schedule, so select one member of your family to ask the questions from your group & that selected person  to relay the answers back to your group. Do not have multiple individuals from your group all call and each try to ask questions.

Goto ER: Its an emergency. You could bleed to death. Sometimes surgery is warranted to remove the spleen.

Pain: Probably intercostal or abdominal wall pain. Ruptured spleen is not subtle. Discuss your concerns with your doc for an explanation of your situation.

No: it sounds like bones and muscles, splenic rupture wouldn't cause such symptoms, rather it would lead to internal bleeding and hypotension, but you still need to see your doctor for assessment, wish you well
