No: Caladryl is a combination of calamine lotion and topical benadryl (diphenhydramine).  It is meant to calm itch, but does not contain an antibiotic that can clear a staph infection.  Please see your doctor for treatment.

Unlikely: Hives are best treated by antihistamines taken by pill or liquid rather than topical (cream, ointment) treatment.  Approved medications for treating hives are Zyrtec, Claritin and Allegra.  They will provide relief without the usual side effect of drowsiness that comes with Benadryl (diphenhydramine).  If hives persists beyond 6 weeks, see an allergist as newly approved treatments are available.

Either: Both help to soothe itchy skin. Keep in mind though that caladryl does contain benedryl and that could cause drowsiness.

Call Poison Control: Caladryl is an over-the-counter brand that commonly contains camphor which may be harmful if ingested (http://www.drugs.com/cdi/camphor-liquid.html). Best to call Poison Control and go to nearest emergency department.

No: The severe pain caused by varicella zoster lesions (shingles) is a nueropathically generated.  Caladryl will do little to help.

Calamine or: Maybe even take an oatmeal bath ...As an allergist i would say never use caladryl for anything.....Maybe take Allegra (fexofenadine) daily for a few days(read the label).. And try 1% cortisone cream(-all over the counter ))...And of course treat/clean the bed and bedding.
