In any case where there is concern, the pregnant woman should seek immediate care with her OB provider or at an OB facility.

Largely unknown...: Pretem labor is a blanket/umbrella diagnosis for a wide spectrum of conditions that result in fetal stress and uterine contractions. Such conditions include: infections, poor growth, placental failure, bleeding, too much amniotic fluid, multifetal pregnancies, trauma, fetal anomalies causing hydrops or heary failure, etc. Most of the time there is no diagnosis and preterm labor is "idiopathic".

More pressure: Three babies take up more room than 1.  The uterus is only designed to hold so much.  As the triplets grow it soon gets to be "too crowded"  the the uterus decides it is time to go.  Same things happens with twins but typically that doesn't happen as early as triplets.

Magnesium has been used for the treatment of premature labor, but multiple studies have shown that it doesn't really stop contractions. Its use for this indication is declining. Withdrawing an ineffective medication can't cause premature labor.

About 22+ weeks: After 22+ weeks of gestation many ob's will attempt to use tocolytics to stop labor, especially if the mother has had repeat pregnancy losses. Viability of a live fetus however is dependant upon the nicu of the hospital and its' care until the fetal lungs are mature enough to breathe and survive once pre-term delivery occurs.

What did your OB doc: Say this is a ? U should be directing to your health care provider , just like i expalin all of this to my OB pts.  Some are contartcions, pains in teh uterus , increase discahrge, etc. If u are worried u need to call your provider now to be evaluated as u do not want to catch taht too late.

Call OB.: Without further information, tis could be a normal symptom of pregnancy.  Your OB my be better ale to answer your question, since they would know your history.
