recently, whenever i eat peanut butter i experience a couple bms that progress to diarrhea. this is new. no other symptoms. intolerance or allergy?

Likely allergy: This is likely a GI response to peanuts due to allergy. However some patients do have an intolerance to peanuts. The best way to tell is to obtain a blood test IgE to peanut. Either way, it is best for you to avoid peanuts altogether.

i'm lactose intolerant, use lactaid pills, but, butter & margerine are the only things that still give me diarrhea & that's w/the pills. what's wrong?

Fat mal-absorption: You may not be able to absorb fats and malabsorption can cause diarrhea. It would be useful to consult a Castro-enterologist for an evaluation.

Allergy to it can.: Peanut butter is recommended
by the cleveland clinic for diarrhea. However, if you are allergic to peanuts, you may develop diarrhea when eating peanut butter and overeating worsens it. See your doctor to  rule out an allergy to peanuts, as peanut allergy is one of the most frequent food allergies. 80% of the immune system is gut-associated, which explains the strong diarrheal response.

Keep appointment: Hoping you keep your doctor's appointment, because this child needs to be seen for full history (including recent diet) and exam.  There's a long list of possible causes for red mucus in stool, and it's best to start with thorough eval rather than conjecture.  Best wishes to  you and your child.

Practically everyone: ...experiences some problem with some foods. Food intolerance is common, variable, and individual and may even include such innocuous ingestants as water. Reference: elaine shimberg, "relief from ibs".  Would hold off on those cookies for a while...

No: drinking water does not cause loose stools.  You may be starting a viral gastroenteritis.

i had a few normal bowel movements and one watery one. i then ate some rice with butter and a small amount of cajun powder and got loose stools with foam in them. is the rice the cause?

: Not likely. Unless it was spoiled. Try without butter or Cajun powder and see if that helps. Or you most likely have and infectious viral cause. And it will be better is a few days.

Popcorn: It may be from the gas that's being produced during digestion.  Eating greasy or heavily buttered popcorn can also cause stomach discomfort and maybe some diarrhea.

Oils: It is probably no the popcorn that is giving you diarrhea, but the oil and fats added to the popcorn that irritates you intestines.
