Pretty normal: Olecranon bursitis results in swelling about the posterior tip of the elbow and can sometimes cause pain too.  Initial treatment is typically nsaids, rest and avoiding direct pressure on the olecranon.  If necessary, this can be drained but recurrence is common.

i fell on elbow and was diagnosed with bursitis after an x-ray. there is no swelling and there is improvement after 3 days with motrin/ice. i also have hand numbness and limited functionality. is it normal?

Could be: A trauma bad enough to cause bursal swelling could also be putting some pressure on the ulnar nerve on the inside of the elbow.  This could cause some numbness in the ring and small finger of the hand.  Keep up with the Motrin and ice.  If numbness does not go away in a few weeks, get it checked out.

Elbow bursitis: After trauma may take some time to resolve. In the absence of infection, patience is needed. A gentle compressive sleeve or elvow pad may help comress the tissues and avoid repeat trauma but just as long as the skin  does not irritated and the elbow does not get stiff. Ice and nsaids work well. For chronic issues an injection with cortisine or for very refractory cases a sclerosing agent may help.

Possibly yes: Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, a fluid filled sac at the top of the humerus. If the inflammation is severe there may be swelling. Most often bursitis causes pain without much swelling. Some other causes of swelling in the shoulder are tendonitis, arthritis, joint infection and ligament tears.

Knee bursitis: This depends on the cause and the severity of the bursitis.  If the cause can be haulted then swelling can start to decrease slowly over weeks to months.  If the activity causing the bursitis is continued then the swelling may be persistant.

Yes: I assume you have trochanteric bursitis.  If that is the case mild activity is good at this stage. You may need to look at other factors such as tightness of the buttock muscles or leg muscles that can contribute to bursitis. Addressing those factors may keep it from reoccuring.

Need other drug: Most likely you need to take any anti- inflammatory medication for better recovering .

Yes: Any bursitis will cause local swelling. Other signs of inflammation that may be seen locally include redness heat and pain.

: Maybe, maybe not. If fluid persists after a few days treatment, likely drainage will be required. Discuss with the doctor or clinic treating you.
