Could be fungal: I would see a dermatologist, if not available dermatologist see you family physician.  I would recommend a physician not a nurse practitioner in this case.

Bumps/scalp: It may be that you will be able to find it and reassess it after he has fallen asleep. Most small bumps can be observed to see if they resolve. Sometimes a bump may be related to trauma.Scalps are difficult to assess as there are so many bumps which appear to be swelling, but are part of a normal scalp. Have any swelling that is growing or has an unusual color assessed.

Dermatitis: There are multiple thousands of hair follicles on ones head.  One for each hair.  Occasionally these follicles get infected with bacteria and will form a pustule like lesion.  One can even have a reaction to the oil on the scalp and get a dermatitis with a pimple like lesion.  The follicle can get plugged and form a "zit" like lesion.  Use a good shampoo, perhaps dab a bit of antibiotic ointment.

I would start: By using a dandriff shampoo like selsun blue.  A dermatologist would be a good person to see but i would start there if it isnt all over.

Folliculitis: If kinky hair, maybe acne keloidales. A dermatologist will help you. Migraine, "tension" (pain?), and confusion are serious. See a DR without delay. They are a separate issue.

Many possibilities: Unfortunately they could be many things. Having somebody look at it in person would be the best. There are possibilities such as lice and ranging two small infections.
