Thyroid ca follow up: There are many complexities to the follow up of thyroid cancer, and you need to be followed by an Endocrinologist.  An ultrasound and a blood thyroglobulin would be helpful now.  Following the RAI, was there uptake in the region of that lymph node? This swollen LN could be recurrence of thyroid ca, or it could be unrelated.

have chronic pain in back of neck and up and over the head ..both sides and forehead . scalp can be tender .. been 1 1/2 years ... have tried phys. therapy with only temp. minor relief .. am i doomed with this pain forever i am so frustrated .i am 72?

: Problem has persisted for almost 2 years so I assume you had had full work up for the etiology. What is the presumed diagnosis? Besides physical therapy, have you received medication(s) for chronic pain such as antidepressant med +/- pregablin/gabapentin because the pain seems consistent with neuropathic pain. If doctor has tried everything without success, you should consider acupuncture.

Some options.: Saltwater gargles are helpful. Mix a tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amount of lemon juice is good. Pour boiling water over thinly sliced organic ginger. Steep for at least five minutes in a covered pot. Add 2 to 3 tbs of honey ; sip.

Not the first...: ...Choice, but may help. Up to 20% of streps are resistant, though.

Pain?: Depends on cause of pain.  You need an evaluation by an ENT specialists.  Seek care.

Post-nasal drip?: This may well be material draining out of the sinuses, irritating the back of the throat.  You might try nasal irrigation with saline, or use of a netti-pot for sinus irrigation.  You can get this from your friendly pharmacist otc.  Worth a try.  Good luck.

Get medical check up: Sore throat usually means infection of the Tonsils/throat, upper airway, often caused by viruses. Sometimes it is more serious due to a bacteria called Strept throat and may require antibiotics before it will go away as most viral infections do go away in 2-3 weeks.
It is best to show your throat to a physician or ENT specialist so that further evaluation/ diagnosis be done, and treatment offered.

Complications: Untreated strep can be followed by antibodies that attack your heart/kidney or brain. Rheumatic fever describes the systemic onset of this reaction where the patient is fairly ill &amp; the heart &amp; heart valves are inflamed. If the kidneys are attacked they can weaken &amp; blood pressure goes up.If the brain is attacked you can develop a movement problem.Sometimes the tonsils just abscess &amp; u risk dying.

dr. prescribed 5 days of zithromax for my throat... forgot to take my last pill on time. took it 8 hrs later!!! will it still work? ruined treatment?

YES: Taking the last pill a few hours late is not a problem with Zithromax.  Your treatment will still be effective.
