Pregnant 8-9 w? : At "8-9 w pregnant" the ovary slows down production of progesterone, and if the placenta is slow in producing enough to relieve the deficit, bleeding (turning brown with time) can result.  Your OB may prescribe progesterone to help prevent a miscarriage , so get an appointment asap.

brown mucus vaginal discharge, not my period and negative pregnancy test. what could be the cause and is something to be concerned about? irregular periods and mild cramps but no pain when peeing?

: If you have irregular periods, I am not sure why it is not your period. Brown in you vaginal discharge is old blood. Often mid-cycle when you ovulate there is a mucus plug discharge that is brownish in color. If this is you ovulating then the period will be about 14 days later.

It might be: a combination of old blood mixed with vaginal secretions.  See if resolves on it's own. If  not d/w your dr.

Blood vs infection: Mid cycle bleeding occurs sometimes. Old blood can appear brown or black. Watered down blood can appear pink. There are several infections that people who are not sexually active can get. Yeast and BV are common. See a gynecologist for testing and exam.

Probably normal: Dark brown discharge is just old blood. The first thing to rule out is always pregnancy. If that's negative then you probably have a hormone imbalance making your periods irregular.

Not necessarily: Normal healthy women can have occasional changes in their discharge, periods, and uterine symptoms, even without being pregnant. If symptoms are more than just mild, if they become recurrent, or if they are very worrisome, a primary care doctor or an ob-gyn doctor can evaluate. To find out if one is pregnant, do an over-the-counter urine pregnancy test after missing a period (tests are accurate).

Most likely yes: Clear thick mucus-like discharge is typical of ovulatory mucous.  People often describe it as looking like egg white.  That said, if your discharge has a funny odor, you have any itching or pain, or you could have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection, then you should get checked out.

Vaginitis: Could be several things. Bacterial vaginosis is most likely, especially if it has an odor. Would need more info...Are you on a birth control pill, hormones, when was your last menstrual period, etc.

Vaginal Discharge: This is most likely semen mixed with vaginal fluids.  It does not represent anything specific about pregnancy or lack of pregnancy.
