There are a variety of medications that contain hormones, diaphragm, intrauterine device, condom, spermicides etc.  Each has different degree of effectiveness.

Even today, there are factors that affect birth control reliability, such as obesity, drug interactions, absorption, dose of pill, etc. The number one cause of birth control failure? --- missing a pill or taking pills late!

A way to prevent pregnancy (but still have intercourse) is to use birth control.  Birth control comes in a variety of forms such as pills, implants in the skin or the uterus, injections, foams, vaginal inserts, etc.  There is even emergency contraception that you can take AFTER intercourse!

If you're pregnant: Stopping birth control doesn't cause symptoms.  Normal menstrual cycles can cause symptoms that can mimic pregnancy--premenstrual breast tenderness, bloating.  Do a pregnancy test.  If you don't want to be pregnant, choose a different method.  If you do, take prenatal vitamins with Folic Acid to lower the risks of birth defects.

Different symptoms : The symptoms are nausea and vomiting ,breast pain ,fatigue and loss of appetite ,these are symptoms with pregnancy

Not until second pac: If you start the first pack in the middle of your cycle, then you will not be protected during that first pack. if you start the first pack during your period, most women are protected that first month

Usually not: Birth control pills are quite reliable. However there is a chance of pregnancy if you miss or are late taking your pill. If you are concerned take a pregnancy test to check. And if you don't have a period at the end of a pill pack when you usually do check a pregnancy test.

Take pregnancy test: Early pregnancy symptoms include breast tenderness and nausea and needing to urinate more frequently. Most people who are on the pill when they get pregnant will also miss the period. If you are concerned take a pregnancy test.
