If you mean alcohol,: That is a vasodilator, i.e., it widens the blood vessels on the surface of the skin.  Thus, your skin gets red and you get warm from the additional blood flow.  See your doc to make sure you don't have an allergy.  Peace and good health.

Triggers: Like alcohol, can cause "hyper" responsiveness in blood vessels that dilate them. Over time, damage to the muscles within those vessels may rarely cause a pemanent flushing condition. Rosacea is one such condition. It can be "triggered" by a variety of agents. A visit to a dermatologist to set your mind at ease, or to suggest options for treatment, is a good idea.

Allergy: You are allergic to some component in the cream. Use antihistamines until it goes away and see an allergist to determine what it is in the cream that you are allergic to. If the redness or swelling continue to spread or if you have trouble breathing, call 911 and get to the er fast. Best wishes.

Allergy or viral: You could be having an allergic reaction. Uncommonly if you contracted a viral infection called infectious mononucleosis you can also get a rash if amoxicillin was prescribed. Please stop the amoxicillin and see a doctor at earliest convenience.

Probably not...: ...Menopause, but could be systemic inflammatory condition like systemic lupus erythematosis.  See a general doctor or endocrinologist.
