hello, i've been having breathlessness for a few years (mainly when walking uphill/stairs), more recently when talking. what could this be?

can hiatal hernia cause breathlessness on walking?

Possible: not itself. But it can cause GERD which can cause SOB and coughing.

i have had breathlessness while walking. my oximeter reads 85 while walking but when i sit down it reads 97. is this asthma/copd/pulmonary embolisms? can someone answer the possibilities?

: This definitely indicates a serious problem and could result from any of the three conditions you mention (although pulmonary embolism probably is less likely). If recent onset or if you have had fever or other symptoms, you might have COVID-19. Or it could be primarily due to heart disease. Whatever the cause, this is very serious. Depends: on your baseline fitness level. If this is unusual activity for you, then it is perfectly natural to feel breathless after this much activity. On the other hand, if you do this every day, and now all of a sudden you are starting to have trouble breathing, it could indicate an issue. In that case, see your doctor. Hope this helps!

Complex answer: You could be overexerting yourself for your present physical condition, or you could have new onset of heart or lung disease, such as coronary artery disease, asthma, copd, or heart failure. You could also have a respiratory infection. Go see your doctor.
