No: The fact that you know you have apnea... And presumably it is being treated actually decreases your risk of post-op complications. Untreated sleep apnea could result in post-obstructive pulmonary edema when the breathing tube is inserted to help you breath.

Medical or surgical: This may be an anticipated problem after heart surgery and most times it resolves with noninvasive treatment. Her surgeon should be informed first to make sure its not surgical.

I : I am so sorry that your dad and your family are having to go through this.  As you know, that is an extremely major surgery.  Triple bypass with aortic valve replacement and procedure for atrial fibrillation is extremely extensive surgery.  Factors that can affect the surgery and outcome include the condition of the patient prior to surgery, age, kidney function prior to surgery, and the condition of the heart prior to surgery. Keep an open line of communication with the doctor and nursing staff so that your family's questions can be answered to your satisfaction.  I wish the best for your father.

Early and late: Early complications can be as minor as a little "shrinkage" f the lung from the anesthesia, and your doc will give you an "incentive spirometer" to encourage you to breath. Still, some people get pneumonia, and this is more serious.  During or shortly after surgery, you can get fluid backed up into your lung. Late complications  include blood clots, and pleural reactions (fluid around the lung).

Probably: At a year the sternum-breast bone should be healed.
Work your way through cardiac rehab to check your general capacity.
Then start slow and steady to, your maximum level
boxing may not be ideal in terms of taking the hits, but I have had a patient return to that as well.

You : You may be dealing with lactose intolerance which basically means you are having difficulty digesting dairy products thus resulting in foul smelling gas. Try a week free of dairy (no milk, butter, cheese, sour cream, yogurt etc. If you improve then you have your answer. There are pills you can buy over the counter that help aid in the digestion of dairy products. 
If this proves not to be the problem visit your doctor for a medical evaluation.

Possibly: Your surgeon should also be able to address these questions, as they are certainly well-versed in the complications related to bypass, and also what sort of bypass will be needed for your case.  On the other hand, i'm certain most centers could easily arrange for you to spam with the perfusionist...
