Some menthol DOES: Open up nasal passageways; however, it doesn't last very long...Sometimes it's better to use straight saline nasal spray or spray gel, because in the winter, nasal membranes will swell when they are dry.  The saline penetrates the swollen membranes and causes them to shrink,  secondary option might be a nasal steroid.

hi, i have sleep apnea, i bought snorepin to put in the nostrils for better breathing, but now i feel cold air in the top of the nostril and it hurts?

Not just the nose.: An obstructive sleep disorder is mainly secondary to the base of the tongue.  Although enlarged tonsils and enlarged uvula may contribute to the obstruction, the nose contributes less to sleep disorder.  The technique you are using to open the nostrils wider does not contribute much.  If there is sleep apnea or a significant sleep disorder, the best treatment is positive pressure with a mask.

Asthma: Exercise induced asthma affects people who don’t have other asthma symptoms. They are more sensitive to temperature and humidity of the air. Cold dry air inhaled through the mouth reacts with warm moist air in the lungs triggering an attack. Breathing through the nose warms & humidifies air which helps. Its hard to breathe through your nose when exercising but a face mask/scarf may help.

Could be asthma: If you are having breathing issues with exercise or cold air, asthma is a strong possiblity.  Please see your Dr. ASAP for evaluation and treatment.

Breathing: If you don't get shortness of breath during physical activity but do complain of it while at rest, it would suggest a component of anxiety although episodes of asthmatic wheezing can occur at rest. Cold sensations in the neck are nonspecific. If you have continuing concerns about your airway, see a pulmonologist for evaluation and advice. Pulmonary function tests and a chest xray may be ordered
