A boil?: If you are referring to an abscess - they might not heal properly without incision and drainage. If you are referring to an infected hair follicle - sometimes applying moist heat allows it to come to a head.

Due the blocked up secretions especially is areas of repeated friction with accumulation of moisture. No treatment will completely cure it and you will get recurrent glare up's we sometimes treat with prolonged antibiotics in low dose to prevent superimposed infections.

Mederma: You can try mederma. Time will take care of it. Make sure to stay out of the sun. If it is still not resolved to your satisfaction in 6 months, laser therapy can help.

?sinus tract: you need to see your dr again and see if you need a surgical debridement.keep clean with soap and water wash.

NO: These incisions heal from the inside out and the "lump" may be scar formation. Look for these following red flags: heat, pain, redness, swelling or fever. If these occur call your physician ASAP.

i keep getting recurring boils on my butt. pcp prescribed bactrim, (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) but not working. more popping up while on it. any suggestions? see dermatologist?

You may: Your PCP can also take a culture for lab analysis and treat you with a definite antibiotic based on the sensitivity profile. This is not beyond what your PCP can handle. A change of antibiotic will likely take care of the problem
