ive been on birth control for 4 months i have notice an increase in visible blue veins, i am not pregnant so is this normal to have late side effects

Possibly: I realize that your question is controversial but i can only respond from experience.  Although there may not be a direct cause and effete between bcp's and vein formation, there certainly is an increase in veins during pregnancy partially due to hormonal changes.  Also, over the years, patients on oral bcp's were more resistant to sclerotherapy treatments and had a greater incidence of staining

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, and physical examination. Overweight is often associated with prominent or varicose veins. Lowing weight is imperative, not easy, but essential.

See below: Noticeable blue veins can be very normal. Veins can travel close to the surface of the skin and the color that they appear (bluish or brown) depends on a persons skin tone - people with light skin often have 'bluer' appearing veins. The darker the skin, the darker the veins look.

Maybe: if you are fair skinned then it will be quite normal to see veins. Not much to do but apply make up to cover the areas. They are not dangerous. If veins bulge they may have reflux and require treatment. A proper evaluation is key.

VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY: Compression stockings may help, but if young, talk to a vascular surgeon about surgical options, if it is venous insufficiency.

Newborn head: The veins are easy to see and feel on a newborns head. Also, the head can be misshapen fro the trip down the birth canal. This does not sound like anything to worry about. But for your piece of mind, have your pediatrician examine the baby.

R/O  LIVEDO: Dilated blood vessels in the upper chest after a strenuous work out usually dissipate after 1-3hrs.  If they persist and at only on one side , I would seek prompt evaluation. People with an underlying clotting disorder or an autoimmune problem can develop a condition called LIVEDO Reticularis. So monitor your symptoms if they persist Or worsen seek a prompt evaluation.

Normal finding: I am amazed about how often I have women ask me about the veins on their breast.  Occasionally they are spider veins but mostly they are blue veins.  These are almost always normal findings and normal variations of chest veins.  They tend to be more pronounced in fair skinned females and they may be related to hereditary factors or even pregnancies.  No treatment is necessary unless for cosmetics.

Common: Sometimes they seem to appear after breast surgery, such as augmentation. However, they are not uncommon even in someone who has not had this procedure. These are really just normal veins, perhaps more visible because they are close to the surface of the skin and possibly because they might enlarge over time. In my experience, they often respond well to gentle sclerotherapy.
