Maybe.: Colitis can result in bloody stools, but so can many other things, including hemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel diseases, diverticulosis, peptic ulcers, colon cancer, & more. Depending on your personal history and age, you may also be more at risk for some of these than others. Bloody stools could come from benign problems as well as very serious ones. If you're having this problem, see your doctor.

Bloody stools: In 11 months old more commonly due to constipation. Some have anal fissures . If grose blood with abdominal distention, tenderness, fever , irritability, not eating  or poor appetite, you need to take your baby to the emergency room or  his pediatrician to rule out any surgical abdomen/ obstruction!

Yes: Blood in the stool may be from diverticulosis, a benign condition. Large polyps can cause bloody stools as can large internal hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoid(s) ?: I think the most likely  cause of bright red blood with constipation would due to hemorrhoid related bleeding.  Constipation can be due to a number of causes and any bloody stools should be evaluated by your  doctor.  See your physician and get it checked out.

Yes and no, it depen (penicillamine): The reason for rectal bleeding needs to be determined first. It can be an anal fissure from hard stools...This will often heal but other more common reasons for rectal bleeding are hemorrhoids or cancer. These may not heal on their own. So my advice is that you get your doctor to examine you and find the cause and treat accordingly.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Any abnormal bleeding is cause for concern. It would be prudent to see your doctor.
