How dark?: Venous blood is much darker than the arterial or capillary blood that you're used to seeing. If it did not evoke comment from the person who drew your blood, perhaps this is what you are seeing. If you have methemoglobinemia or sulfhemoglobinemia, the color is really strange and the lab person will comment. Low oxygen tension in venous blood is likely in a smoker only late -- this isn't yet.

hi, i've been experiencing bleeding mid cycle, its been happening for 5 days and i'm on day 16 currently. i'm not on anything that would irregulate my cycle. the blood color is pinkish to brown? im worried on what it could be?

: Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.

i have been fingered , i bleed in the inside , the blood color is brown and i feel burning sensation a little . what it could be ?

Bleeding: The brown color is likely old blood. May also indicate that you are having a period. Burning sensation is a little concerning as this may mean either a bacterial or yeast infection. In any event, you will need to see a physician if the symptoms have not gone away in the next day or two.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Take a test: You could be pregnant if you have been sexually active.  If the test is negative, repeat it in a week.  If you are not pregnant, protect yourself with one of the many reliable birth control methods available.  Use condoms to protect yourself from sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).  If you have had unprotected sex, you should be checked for STDs.

my vergina produce this brown(like dry blood color) substance since yesterday.my period just ended a week back, and i don't have sexual activity.help?

May have BV: The bacterial flora in the vagina may have been off.  When that happens, it can cause a bacterial overgrowth condition called bacterial vaginosis (bv for short).  It is not a std but certain things can increase the risk of development - such as having more than one sex partner or have a new sex partner, smoking, or douching.  Please see your gynecologist for treatment.

Arthritis and UTI: The symptoms you describe may be related to many different conditions which require a workup by your provider.  For example, there is an autoimmune condition called reiter's syndrome, which is a reactive arthritis triggered by an infection in the body, usually the intestines, urinary tract, or genitals.  An association between reither's and HIV is known to occur.  You should definitely followup.

Light Bleeding: It is always possible that you might be pregnant and the light, unusual bleeding is that associated with the first "missed period" of pregancy. A reliable home pregnancy test would be positive - if this is the case - in a few more days.

Yes: Yes, and because red blood cells contain hemoglobin.  Each hemoglobin molecule contains iron - red.
