Blood blisters: Blood blisters are normally caused by minor trauma--a good example is when you hit your finger with a hammer when missing the nail. These are not as prone to infections as blisters from excessive wear (eg, heel blisters) since the overlaying skin has not been chronically inflammed. So it is ok to pop them with sterile sharp point. If you do, keep covered afterwards for at least 24 hrs.

I don't know: The  female mosquito deposits saliva that contains anticoagulants in the skin. Anticoagulants allow for bleeding.  However, i don't know if this would be able to cause a blood blister.
