Bleeding with sex: Bleeding after sex can be related to inflammation of the cervix, with irritation the source of the bleeding. See your gyn for potential treatment with hot or cold cautery, after a pap smear to check on abnormal cells which may be present.

Bleeding: Bleeding after intercourse isn't normal , could be a sign of a vaginal irritation, infection or abnormality with the anatomy such as a polyp or fibroid... See your doc for evaluation.

First : First of all, make sure that your bleeding is coming from your vagina and not your urethra or rectum. If you insert a tampon and there is blood on it, then you know the bleeding is coming from wither your uterus, cervix or vagina.

If you are pre-menopausal, there are many causes for vaginal bleeding not related to your period such as: 
- iud or Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) use 
- stopping or starting birth control pills containing estrogen 
- stress 
- hormone problems such as with the thyroid 
- injury/trauma of the vagina from intercourse or a sexually transmitted disease (the bright red you see after having sex might just be from friction of the penis against the cervix)
- uterine fibroids or polyps 
- cervical injury, infection or rarely, cancer 
- pregnancy - highly unlikely since you are on Depo-Provera and breastfeeding

the best way to sort out what could be happening is to call your doctor. If you are bleeding heavily, call immediately, otherwise you can call during office hours. A careful exam can help show whether your spotting is anything to worry about. Good luck!

It shouldn't: if you are having irregular periods, it seems more likely the bleeding has something to do with that, instead of rough sex. Post-coital bleeding is due to local trauma to your vagina, rather than a hormonal imbalance. Make an appointment with your OB GYN to get to the cause for the bleeding

: Pregnancy is possible after unprotected self and no contraception. The only way to know for sure is a pregnancy test. You can get a home pregnancy test and use the first morning urine since that is the most concentrated. If there is any doubt in the result, it can be repeated or you can see your doctor for further testing. If you do not wish to get pregnant, see your doctor about contraception.
