It happens: Baby girls have girl parts that are stimulated by mothers hormones during the pregnancy. A percentage of newborn girls will have the equivalent of menses. This usually starts after day 2 and lasts a few days. It would never be expected after day 7-10. The volume is seldom more than would cover a cotton ball. It is normal but you can have her doc verify the process.

if you have pain in the area of the gallbladder or navel, and it is tender, get checked. an incisional hernia or internal bleeding are both possible.

This is not uncommon: This type of breakthrough bleeding in the last part of the menstrual cycle, the luteal phase, is pretty common.   It means there is a slight disruption in hormone regulation. I doubt it represents anything serious at all. But it would be best for you to discuss with your doctor; almost all of these hormone irregularities can be regulated with hormonal birth control pills if any treatment is needed

There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or poly cystic ovarian syndrome.
