Hard to say: This is not possible to determine without having an exam by your Doctor. If the spots have been there for a long time, then maybe it's nothing to worry about. However, if have recently had unprotected sex with a new partner, or you are having symptoms such as fever, chills, nausea, it may be a clue that you have an STI. Either way, you need to see a Doctor to learn what these spots are.

What you describes certainly sounds like a blood blister.  When blood is exposed to air then it appears darker.  This is why the spot looks purple then begins to lighten.  Yes, it seems from your excellent description that it is healing quite normally.

Need more info: Need your age to better answer also If you are sexually active. Trauma, infection  are two common problems.Please get to see your primary care physician or OB/GYN ASAP
