my 3 month breastfed & formula (on occasions) baby poop had tiny little black specs in his poo? is this normal or should i be concerned?

Baby bowel movement: The only time we are concerned with color of a baby's stool is if it is white or has blood in it.  Changes in stool's color, consistency is normal.

i'm had a stomach bug a month ago. my partner had it to 2 days after me. he recovored. i have been pooping loose green stools with little black specs?

Mgt: I would recommend staying well hydrated by drinking fluids. Avoid dairy products with the exception of yogurt until you are well. Try eating yogurt twice daily until well.
If you have more black specs, please follow up for a test to determine if there is a source of bleeding from your GI tract.

Yes: Any oral iron supplement will lead to darker stools.

ok, would black specs mixed in 2 yo stool be considered coffee ground stool or would that be more obvious?  is this normal? not sure what to look for.

Specs in Stool: "coffee grounds" usually refers to vomit containing blood.  Black specs mixed in with stool most likely food.  Bananas in stool- usually have a black spec appearance.  Another possibility is chewed crayon.  Usually blood in stool looks red or can make stool look dark green or black. If stools are loose or diarrhea with blood contact your child's pediatrician.

Rectal bleeding : If you have had that many negative stool tests for blood at a time when you actually saw the black specs, then you can't be fairly certain that the black stool does not represent blood. It is unlikely to be anything worrisome. Unless symptoms change, I would do nothing further. Good luck.

Diet?: I'm sure you are worried that this represents blood. Blood coming from the upper gastrointestinal tract is indeed black, but it would not look like black specks on the TP. Generally the entire stool is black and tarry and the stools would be positive for blood. This could be something in your diet.

Nah: Significant blood loss (more than 3-4 ounces  of blood), especially from upper sources, e.g. Stomach, duodenum , small bowel, less likely from right colon, can give black, tarry stol, with a typically characteristic odor, often loose (blood is a laxative):melena (black). Entire stool would be black, not just individual spots. Likely from food, seeds. Iron pills, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) can do also.

Likely: Has something to do with your diet, but doesn't sound concerning.  Completely black and tarry stools are concerning for upper GI bleeding, but that's not what you are describing.

This does not sound: like cancer (especially at your age). However, you should be checked by your doctor to see if you have an infection or if the black is from any bleeding.
