Yes: Black licorice is a candy, and licorice root is a plant (glycyrrhiza glabra).  Black licorice candy contains glycyrrhizin, the compound made from black licorice root that's used as a sweetener. Glycyrrizin can cause body potassium levels to fall. There are de-glycyrrinated licorice supplements available, if using for that purpose.

: Licorice is used as an anti inflammatory product . Many compounds sold as licorice do not have any and only its smell. Dugs including health products should be taken for specific indication. If you are healthy and eat healthy food you should not take and do not need so called health foods

Better quality black licorice, while also sugary, has real licorice in it, a medicinal herb with many health benefits, though it is healthier to use as a tea, tincture or tablet. Debatable : Black cohosh is used by some to combat hot flashes and insomnia related to menopausal decline. It's mechanism of action is unknown. It was once thought that it had estrogenic effects, but that has since been shown not to be the case.  Estrogenic effects could lead to weight gain, but since it doesn't act this way weight gain should not be an issue.

Probably ok: There were some early studies that showed black cohash could be helpful in alleviating menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes. This should be fine as long as:  one takes the lowest effective dose, that dose does not exceed what is recommended by the manufacturer, that there is no interaction with other medications, and that one is being followed medically by their doctor.

Not working for you: This is a "pop" remedy that seems to work for some women but isn't part of evidence-based medicine. Herbals are often very disappointing especially given all the hoopla and misleading advertising -- which is unfortunate, as there's a lot of potential here. Your physician has some stuff that is more likely to be effective. Good luck.

: The test strip is just a chemical reaction so the result should not be off too much, either for testing pH of saliva, urine or vaginal medium. I would not recommend adding licorice root to your foods or drinks every day, not a problem if you do it episodically provided you are healthy.
