Spotting/breakthrough : Spotting/breakthrough bleeding is very common, especially within the first three cycles. Also if you do not take the pill around the same time everyday your chances of this spotting increases. If after the third pack you are still spotting you may need a different birth control pill with a different hormonal compostion. Please consult with your doctor to go over your options.

birth control pills if i am pregnant i had sexual relations without protection two days ago and i think i was in my fertil days, my boyfriend did not eyaculate but there was penetration...i need to know if i can start today taking pills for birth control.

If : If you are going to continue to have sex, then you should continue to take your birth control pills as directed.  Even if you are pregnant, taking the pills will not harm the baby.

As far as finding out if you are pregnant, you can either take a home pregnancy test as long as it has been 5- 6 weeks since your last normal period, or you can go see your doctor and they can test you. A home pregnancy test is 97% accurate if taken a week or more after the missed period. Unless you took the test in the last week or two, it may have been too early. A blood test can tell if you are pregnant as soon as 7 days after conception and a doctor's urine pregnancy test can tell if you are pregnant around when you next period should come.

If you are not pregnant, talk to your doctor about emergency contraception.  You can use this if you have unprotected sex in the future.  Good luck!

The : The american college of gynecologists(acog) do not recommend pap smears on anyone under the age of 21, unless there are other factors present (history of cervical cancer). Your daughter would not be required to get a pap smear, and most doctor's would not perform a pap smear on a virgin regardless of wheter or not they follow the recommendations of acog. My professional opinion is that you should not start your daughter on birth control pills just in case she gets tempted. You should have an open dialogue/line of communication with her so that if she does decide to have sex she will come to you prior and she will know that she should use a condom, and then you can discuss birth control. She is only 14 years old, you need to tell her all the reasons why she is too young to have sex and how it will/can negatively affect her life and future. You ashould keep her so busy with school and extracurricular activities that she does not have the time or opportunity to have sex. Please empower not enable her.

Yes (kind of): In general, pills with higher estrogen and lower androgen potency will help with acne, such as Yaz, (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) Ortho-Tri Cyclen, and Ortho Evra (others include Demulen, Brevicon, Modicon, Necon, and Mircette). As for sexual side effects, although OCPs may decrease androgens (thought to be important in libido), the particular pill doesn't seem to matter, nor do higher estrogen concentrations.

Natural variation: Small variations in menstrual bleeding are normal, even on birth control pills.
