VERY effective: The birth control implant (Implanon/Nexplanon) is extremely safe because it only releases the progestin, Etonogestrel. There is no estrogen and so the risk of clots is MUCH lower than any combined method. Failure rate is 0.05% in a year, which is almost better than getting your tubes tied. It is effective within a week of insertion and won't be affected by ANY antibiotics (except rifampin).

Pregnancy test: If you are having unprotected sex and having symptoms you think may be pregnancy related you need to take a pregnancy test. Since implants are hormonal the symptoms can be similar to hormonal changes with pregnancy.

: If you  get the implant during the first 5 days of your period you can have sex right away. If not in that period, than weight at least a week and use condoms.

i have the birth control implant and its been itchy, throbbing and hurting a lot lately is there something wrong with it?

Could be: It would be prudent to get it checked out at the place where you got the implant. 
It is good that you are taking responsibility for your reproductive health.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

got nexplanon birth control implant 2 days ago. is it normal for the implant to move around in your arm? i don't want it to come out.

A little: The nexplanon will move around a little until it becomes encapsulated in scar tissue. It should not come out unless you are really pushing on it. Hope this helps.

Not likely: if you have so severe pain please get it checked by your physician

Patience.: Patience is a wonderful virtue that all parents and all prospective parents should develop, prior to getting pregnant. That means a person who says, "I want to be able to have a baby right away!" (with an exclamation mark), is not likely ready to have a baby. Patience is so important. That being said, one might ovulate weeks after removing the implant, but in real life, it is not very predictable.

: There is no evidence to suggest or support "Monistat 1" having adverse effect on the Nexplanon birth control method.

i just got my nexplanon (birth control implant) 11 days ago. my partner came in me and i am worried that the nexplanon hasnt had enough time to work properly. what is the likely hood ill be pregnant?

Accepted Answer

: Nexplanon will work immediately after installation, but is not "100%" preventative of pregnancy.  Progestins in the Nexplanon device will prevent pregnancy usually about 95-97 %.  If symptoms occur (breast tenderness, etc.) get a serum HCG test to be certain.
