Mood stabilizers: Nothing recent of particular note. Mood stabilizers are used to treat bipolar disorder. Lithium and depakote would be two examples of mood stabilizers but there are others, depending on symptoms, and depending on what works for the patient.

Criteria: The criteria for bipolar ii indicates that you have a history of at least one hypomanic episode (not manic).  You must also have had at least one or more major depressive episodes. These episodes can impair your ability to function. Bipolar i is usually more debilitating than bipolar ii.

BPD or borderline personality disorder is characterized by a disturbed sense of self, impulsivity, manipulativeness, thinking of people/things in all good or all bad terms, intense fears of abandonment, sexual/substance use, risky behaviors, and self mutilation.

Moodiness can also be depression. The best thing to do is to consult with your physician.

Yes: The DSM-4 did not, but DSM-5 removed that oversight.  There is very little real world distinction between the two classifications apart from full mania or hypomania.  Might even be the same illness but simply a matter of severity on a spectrum (like Rheumatoid Arthritis for instance).  Please visit with a capable psychiatrist for top notch care!

Yes: Hope the plaques problems improve. There are many medications to treat mood symptoms, which tend to be mostly depression, if someone has bipolar ii disorder. Some are called anti-epileptic drugs, others are similar to seroquel (quetiapine) or combinations that include antidepressants. A psychiatrist can discuss risks/ benefits of each.
