i have been getting frequent ear infections due to sinus problems. what's the best way to prevent these if your tubes don't drain right?

Tube in ear: Usually done in younger patients but maybe ENT would recommend a very small tube in your ear drum to equalize pressure.
Make sure diabetes is not a cause.

had a cold for 3 weeks, did virtual visit and doctor has prescribed doxycycline 100mg for 7 days. was on amox-clav two weeks ago for ear infection before sinus issues really got bad. is doxycycline the best treatment? read that it is not?

: Only bacterial infections respond to any antibiotic; viruses do not. Even with symptoms for 3 weeks, it could still be a viral infection, or allergy -- in which case neither doxycycline nor any other antibiotic will make any difference. For true upper respiratory bacterial infection (like sinus infection), doxycycline and amoxicillin-clavlulanic acid probably are equally effective.

Amoxil (amoxicillin): Amoxicillen or Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) are usually the drug of choice for treament of ear infections.

None: Most cases of otitis media (middle ear infection) may not need antibiotic treatment.  When they do there are multiple choices and whether one is "better" than another depends upon the results and the potential for side-effects.

Ear infections: He needs to be on the correct dose of amoxicillin( 80mg/kg/ day) or perhaps a different antibiotic for resistant ear infections such as augmenting..

: An evaluation by ENT may include a culture to identify bacteria and resistance patterns.

Eustachian Tube: Your sinus and ear infections will bring on eustachian tube dysfunction-air cannot get into the middle ear, pressure drops, sucking the eardrum inward and stopping movement in response to sound waves. You will be more aware of your heart beat and sound is often muffled and reduced. Chewing, swallowing or yawning can improve this along with improved cold and sinus sx's: decongestants/antihistamines

Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Cipro (ciprofloxacin) treats some bacterial sinus/ear infections, but the fact is most sinus and ear infections in adults and children are viral and would be unaffected by antibiotics.  Worsening symptoms indicate either inflammation/fluid accumulation and may be relieved with netti-pot, antihistamines, time.  But, if this is bacterial, worsening suggests resistance and the need for a different antibiotic.

Today: Today, if you have a strep throat get a culture and start treatment. If its flu you will be able to be treated. This way you will miss less work or school.

i had flu 2 weeks ago, used moxypen for sinus and ear infection. immediately after i got a bladder infection and used ciploxx 500. i developed vaginal thrush even though i used probiotics. the symptoms have not cleared yet. still protein in urine. ?

Thrush: Taking two different antibiotics can certainly lead to thrush.  Probiotics can help, but if symptoms continue, please see your doctor for further evaluation.
