If there is no known cause (idiopathic, benign), it may be longer lived.

Unknown: Benign fasciculation syndrome (BFS) is an uncommon syndrome while other fasciculations are quite common and can occur in 70% of healthy people. The main cause of BFS is unknown but stress, medications, caffeine, anxiety ,and cigarettes can be causes. A full neurologic exam is needed for diagnosis. Labs and nerve testing should be done. No one can predict how long the syndrome will last

Fasciculations: In my experience benign fasciculations of muscles is a permanent situation but should cause no discomfort or other muscular symptoms. If the diagnosis is confirmed by a neurologist, I would be reassured that no serious neurological pathology exists.

Yes.: A person with benign fasciculation syndrome would have a normal EMG, whereas someone with ALS would have signs of generalized denervation on EMG.

Possibly: stress does many things to our mind and body. Muscle twitching is one of these things. People who have jerking movements or tremors tend to get worse with fatigue and stress.

Fasciculations: I don't believe that the fasciculations respond to vitamin therapy. You could try taking magnesium which calms muscle cramps. A neurologist can confirm your diagnosis and advise you.

Dehydration: There are other causes that can cause your malady such as anxiety, medication, lack or calcium, magnesium or potassium.

Unknown: The true cause of benign fasciculations is yet unknown. To my knowledge there is no study to prove association of low carb diet and bfs. Once serious causes of fasciculations have been ruled out, one should stop worrying about it.
