An examination is needed, unless the person is young and healthy, and the pain is mild and resolves quickly. Possible causes may be: stomach acid problems, reflux symptoms, pancreatitis, gall stone related problems, liver inflammation, abdominal muscle strains, some sort of hernia, etc.

Many: It could be food sensitivity, allergies, lactose intolerance (dairy problem) too much food, gas, blockage of some sort, malabsorption, type of food, etc. Keep a food journal and see if you can identify if a particular type of food is the problem. Could be a gallbladder, liver, or pancreas problem as well. Best to have it evaluated by a physician.

C. diff: Clostridia difficile typically causes a hemorrhagic colitis which is not particularly painful. It might be associated with some crampy pain or other symptoms, but as a single symptom of this disease, pain would be a bit unusual. Predisposing factors like prior antibiotic therapy or immune supresssion should be taken into account also. If in doubt, there are readily available stool tests.

Treat both: Pain can contribute to depression and particularly chronic pain.  The reverse is true also, depression can manifest in bodily pain and make pains less tolerable and more pronounced.  It is important to see a doctor to understand the underlying causes of the stomach pain and treat accordingly.  Talk to your doctor about your symptoms of depression to see if therapy and/or medications wold be best.

Stomach pain: Obesity usually doesn't cause stomach pain. However, it does predispose you to having abdominal wall hernias and also heartburn and reflux. Both of these can cause you o have some abdominal pain. You should see a gastroenterologist for an evaluation.
