Additional info: If you are tracking your morning basal body temperature then you would have to look at this number in relation to all the temperatures that preceded it to know if it's a spike for you, personally. There are tracking apps if that might help.

No: I do not depend on ovulation predictor kits. There is too much variability with them and they are not as accurate as we think.

Temperature rise: Threre wil be a decided elevation of the baseline temperature in the 2nd half of the menstrual cycle produced by the heat producing effect(thermogenic) of Progesterone which will be sustained. Ovulation usually occurs 14 days before the onset of the next period.

BBT: Basal body temperature needs to be charted for you as an individual. Take your BBT each morning throughout your cycle to detect the natural rise in your basal body temperature that occurs just after ovulation. This increase in your BBT is due to the hormone progesterone. One isolated temperature alone will not give you that information.

Increase in temp: You usually get an increase of @ 1 degree at ovulation and it should remain increased.

been taking my basal temperature and doing ovulation kits... its odd. i didnt have any high lh days. it literally was low lh one day and then peak lh the day after that and now my lh is low again. is that normal?

LH only stays : elevated for 24 - 36 hours around ovulation.  So the results you see may be indicative of ovulation.

Accepted Answer

Best to keep : tracking  basal temp, every day. This would likely give the most accurate charting and make it more useful. If a pregnancy starts the expected period would not happen and the temp would stay elevated in the post ovulation range, roughly 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit, above the pre ovulation level.

More to it than temp: More than temps you need to know if you are ovulating and do you have a regular period?  Body weight?  Health? I would be happy to do a consult with you

is it normal to have an anovulatory cycle? i measure my basal temperature every day and it hasnt risen this month but i felt disconfort in my right ovary this month so i am unsure if i ovulated. i stopped taking the pill in august?

Accepted Answer

: Stress (job, emotional, school, COVID anxieties) can delay ovulation, which will delay onset of menstruation. Ovarian cysts can cause pain, so see your GYN physician for testing and possible ultrasound.
