Investigate: Potassium level of 3.2 can be if you are taking diuretics or if you chronic diarrhea. Otherwise you are having more losses throygh kidney and  the reason should be figured out with the help of a doctor.

my potassium level is always 3.5-3.6. i eat bananas, oranges and so on. i have to take iron pills. what can i do make sure it doesnt go low?

Your normal: Keeping eating bananas and taking orange juice. Are you taking any diuretics? Your levels are at the low end of normal, but still normal and may be your normal. You should discuss it with your doctor at the next visit. Taking iron pills will not affect your potassium.

Hyperkalemia: Metoprolol can increase  potassium levels. Your doctor can tell you your potassium level with a simple blood test. Take care.

trying to add fruits to my diet.  i take 6.25 mg of coreg(carvedilol) twice a day. ive heard beta blockers like coreg can affect potassium levels. is it safe for me to eat a banana(and the potassium within it) while on coreg?

Beta blockers: The class of meds called beta blockers like Coreg block receptors (beta receptors) primarily in the cardiac system but do not affect the function of the kidney by causing you to lose potassium. Adding fruits to your diet is a good overall health addition but you do not need to be concerned about the Coreg causing you to lose potassium. Diuretics like Lasix or HCTZ will cause low potassium.

70 year old female taking the green unripe bananas for loose bowel motions. how often she can take that knowing the fact banana increases potassium levels specially the ripe yellow bananas i guess. the green unripe bananas are okay?

: Unless you have chronic kidney insufficiency,are not taking potassium supplements or medications that cause potassium retention, I wouldn't be concerned about the potassium load of eating bananas. I'm not aware of the difference between potassium content of ripe vs. unripe bananas.

Nephrologist: Potassium balance is tightly regulated by the kidneys, so any potassium disorder implies some derangement in potassium handling. If you have high potassium problems, you must consult nephrologist.
